Parents week off

Parents do everything for their children even then, they feel and wish like they could do more for them (P.S. I am talking about Indian Parents).
No matter how old you’re a couple of things which they will say when you visit them or vice versa i.e. you don’t eat food, you don’t look healthy, etc.
Let me pen down my experience with my parents when they visit me in the city (Bengaluru).

Planning

It was a normal workday when my mom calls up and asked do I have any plans for Christmas week to which I said no and they made their plans to visit me for the first time in 4 years.
I was excited and I planned for the whole Bengaluru tour and other places nearby. Although they have already visited the place earlier and did all the touristy stuff, I managed to pull some of the things where we could go.

Parents Arrival (Day — 1)

It was Tuesday (24th Dec. ’19) when they arrived at Bengaluru airport around 4 pm. I went there to pick them up.
Finally, I found them and we started moving towards my home via car which I hired.
It took us around 2 hours 30 minutes to reach my place after which my mom and dad were like done for the day and they passed out as soon as they had dinner.

Christmas Celebration (Day — 2)

It was a Christmas miracle my parents were here! I wasted no time and made them morning tea and took them for breakfast where I called my brother.
We had breakfast at Taaza Thindi. It’s a must-go place for the people who live in Bengaluru and want to have some tasty idli, vada, and dosa (You won’t regret it).
From there we made our way to Church Street where we had K.C.Das infamous Misthi Doi. Since my father had studied in Bengaluru in the early ’80s, he was thrilled to eat that and said: “just like old times”.
From there we went home got changed and went for lunch at Gramin.
After, going to and fro we decided to go watch a movie at Phoenix Mall (one of the biggest mistakes of my life). We left the restaurant at 3 in the evening and took us almost 3 hours 30 minutes to reach Phoenix, there was this much traffic. Hopefully, we didn’t miss the movie.
We watch the movie and reached home.

Bangalore Palace (Day — 3)

Everyone was tired of the day before so we decided to be at home for a while and leave for Bangalore palace around 2 in the afternoon.
This was something interesting to watch history, architectural design, painting, etc.
You will get the audio aid in order to know the history better and the palace is maintained with lush green fields all around.

Temple Visit (Day — 4)

We started early in the morning for going to Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Since my brother didn’t accompany us in the temple visit, so it was me who had to drive to the temple and come back the same day.
Spoiler Alert! The road trip was worth it. It was a six-lane road from Bangalore to Vellore, it almost took 3 hours to reach the destination. The temple was extraordinarily huge and beautiful. I was dumbstruck by seeing the premises of it. It took almost 1 hour 30 minutes to see the temple, had breakfast and then we make our journey back home.

Brother’s Apartment Visit (Day — 5)

We started late in the morning as everyone was tired from the mandir visit yesterday. But, we already had planned that we would go to my younger brother's place which is in electronic city. It took around an hour to drive reach.
From there we went for movies as my brother was cribbing for it.
After the movies, I dropped my brother to his place and bring everyone back to my place.

ISCKON Temple and UB City (Day — 6)

It was the last day as they had an early morning flight tomorrow. So, I took the opportunity and made the most of it by taking them to the ISCKON temple in the morning. We came back home from there and then enjoy some of the favorite dishes which were made by the mother for my brother and me.
After having food and getting adequate rest we made our way to UB City.
My parents were fascinated by the architecture and space of the mall which it contains.

Goodbye (Day — 7)

The week finally came to end and now it’s time to leave. I was sad as I had a great time with my folks around, they teach about a lot of things and gave me really valuable teachings which they have learned from their experiences.
Hope to see them again soon.
