Since, the time I stepped foot in the Bengaluru, a road trip to Nandi hill was on my bucket list and every time some plan was made, let’s just say it went sideways.

So, this time I decided to take a solo bike trip to Nandi hill. Since I am not a bike person, this was the first time I was taking a bike trip that almost covered around 140km round trip distance.

The journey started at 4 am morning on 25th Jan. 2020. I was all pumped with energy to ride my way to Nandi. There were a couple of things I kept with me like my headphones, water bottle, toolkit, first aid kit in my bag. It was almost 70 km one way so I decided to take one break and continue with my pace(Spoiler Alert! I took 2 breaks).

The road was just awesome for the drive. Driving on the roads of Bengaluru in the night and early morning is just bliss, believe me when I say so. It took me almost 1 hour 50 minutes to reach the destination.

The parking system and everything are really sorted there, people will guide you to parking lots. 4-Wheeler can go more up by taking car parking and tickets for the people. I just took one ticket, a parking ticket and submitted my helmet at the cloakroom as I just wanna enjoy the view without handling my helmet in one hand.

From the parking, it’s almost 2–3 km to the sunrise point where a small temple is situated. The view was breathtaking and it just took away my tiredness. I found one sweet spot for myself, played the song “Here comes the sun by The Beatles” on my headphones and just enjoyed the moment in peace with music playing in my ears.

After the sunrise, I explored around for 15–20 minutes, but I couldn’t find anything intriguing. So, I decided to head back and beat the traffic and be at home. While making my way back, I found a hut shaped cafe called “Tribal Cafe” which was quite good. The best part of that place is that it opens 24X7 and they serve “Hookah”. The food was good, I had my breakfast there and just start heading back home.

Couple of things to remember it’s chilly when you ride on the bike, so make sure you guys have enough layer else you will start shivering while riding and that’s where the problem starts. The climate is cold in Nandi just don’t take it lightly and go in your PJ’s you will regret it, as I saw today in a couple of people. Take breaks when you drive for an hour straight because your bike needs some cooldown time and so do you. Happy and safe riding.
